COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING

To facilitate the publishing and dissemination of research articles, IJIETAP needs certain publishing rights from authors, which are determined by a publishing agreement between the author(s) and IJIETAP. The Author(s) must formally transfer each article's copyright before publication in the INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING. The such transfer enables the Journal to defend itself against plagiarism and other forms of copyright infringement.

Authors who have agreed to publish their article on an Open Access basis and have paid any associated fees are entitled to make their article publicly available according to the terms of the selected licenses. For articles published under the subscription basis, the authors typically transfer copyright to IJIETAP. In some circumstances, authors may instead grant us (or the learned society for whom we publish) an exclusive license to publish and disseminate their work.

The journal is registered with the Library of Congress (ISSN # 1943-670X). All rights reserved. No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise, without the prior written permission of the journal.

The author reserves patent and trademark rights and the right to use all or part of the information contained in the article in future non-commercial works.

IJIETAP defines commercial websites and/or repositories as services intended to make a commercial gain. This definition includes charging fees for access, distribution or aggregation of IJIETAP content, selling advertising on websites, repositories or in any other way alongside IJIETAP content, and the sale of user data.

Subscription prices for IJIETAP Content are calculated based only on the value of the articles that are not available for open access. The journals’ open access content is supported separately by article processing charges (APCs).

Regardless of how an article is published, IJIETAP is committed to protect and defend authors’ works and their reputations. We take allegations of infringement, plagiarism, ethical disputes, and fraud very seriously.

 

AUTHOR RIGHTS

The list below explains the rights that authors have when they publish with IJIETAP for authors who choose to publish either open access or subscription. These apply to the corresponding author and all co-authors.

The author of published open access and published subscription have rights to:

  1. Retain patent and trademark rights
  2. Retain the rights to use their research data freely without any restriction
  3. Receive proper attribution and credit for their published work
  4. Reuse their material in new works without permission or payment (with full acknowledgment of the original article):
    1. Extend an article to book length
    2. Include an article in a subsequent compilation of their work
    3. Reuse portions, excerpts, and their figures or tables in other works.
  5. Use and share their works for scholarly purposes (with full acknowledgment of the original article):
    1. In their classroom teaching. Electronic and physical distribution of copies is permitted
    2. If an author is speaking at a conference, they can present the article and distribute copies to the attendees
    3. Distribute the article, including by email, to their students and to research colleagues whom they know for their personal use
    4. Include in a thesis or dissertation (provided this is not published commercially)
  6. Publicly share the Preprint on any website or repository at any time.

For Subscription articles, the author(s) are allowed to share the Accepted Manuscript (AM) on non-commercial sites using a CC BY-NC-ND license.

For Open Access articles, authors have additional rights using a CC BY-NC-ND license. This Creative Commons license sets out the rights that readers (as well as the authors) have to re-use and share the article, as shown below:

  1. Publicly share the Accepted Manuscript (AM) on non-commercial sites.
  2. Publicly share the or Published Journal Articles (PJA).
  3. Retain copyright

 

INSTITUTION RIGHTS

Regardless of how the author chooses to publish with IJIETAP, their institution has the right to use articles for classroom teaching and internal training. Articles can be used for these purposes throughout the author’s institution, not just by the author:

  1. Copies can be distributed electronically as well as in physical form for classroom teaching and internal training purposes.
  2. Material can be included in coursework and courseware programs for use within the institution (but not in the massive open online course)
  3. Articles can be included in applications for grant funding
  4. Theses and dissertations which contain embedded final published articles as part of the formal submission can be posted publicly by the awarding institution with the DOI link back to the IJIETAP website.
  5. The Accepted Manuscript (AM) can be stored in the institutional repository after the Embargo period of 2 years from the publication date of the corresponding article.
